Found the work of Suleman Khilji today.
Suleman Aqeel Khilji (b.1985.Quetta) is a Visual artist and educator, lives and works in Lahore.
Suleman examines the process of painting & drawing. The process is based on research and experimentation, which then mostly revolves around the notions of time and space. While looking at the contradictions through the lenses of urban/social growth, he tries to examine visuals sourced from history and contemporary culture. Suleman’s work therefore often intentionally blurs the lines between fact and fiction, documentation and imagination.
I loved all his works done with oil paints on found books!
The Sunday bookstalls on the street of Anarkali always appeared to me as sight-specific installations, I used to think about how to add my work to these temporary installations on the streets. I started using book covers as a surface to paint back in 2016.
